Convention 2013

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe State Convention is fast approaching.    Convention dates are 7-9 June 2013, at the Embassy Suites Greensboro-Airport.  The outgoing Council of Administration will also meet on Thursday afternoon, 6 June.

Our new convention site is in the center of the state so that all posts can send delegates and join in the celebration of a completed post year.  Awards are presented, new officers elected, and we kick-start the 2013-14 year of service to our veterans and our community.

Convention 2012 had a special Hawaiian theme for the banquet.  It was a sold out event and there was lots of fun for all.  We are working hard at making each state convention a memorable experience that is enjoyable by all.  Bring your family.

Enjoy shopping in nearby shopping centers or explore historic sites.  Why not plan an extended weekend to enjoy the Triad area.  Winston-Salem is nearby as is the historic Guilford Courthouse National Military Park.  If you are a senior, be sure to get your National Park Service lifetime pass for just $10.  It will open the doors for visits to all national parks in our state and nationwide.

Reservations for hotel accommodations should be made now.  The convention site is Embassy Suites Greensboro-Airport.    The telephone number for reservations is 1-336-668-4535.  Use event code VFW.  The hotel’s deadline for reservations to ensure rooms are available is:  May 15, 2013.  There are no separate reservation forms, so be sure to call for your reservations now.  Visit hotel website for more hotel information.

The Convention Delegates Packet is now available for completion on-line, printing and mailing to the Department.  Learn more
