Eternal Rest With Shipmates

December 7th, 1941, the USS ARIZONA was sunk and many died.  The USS ARIZONA is the final resting place of 1,102 of the 1,177 who died that day.  Others survived and continued to serve in the military.  Some continued their careers in the Navy, some returned to civilian life.  All eventually returned to civilian life and hometowns to live out their lives.

Some are buried in Arlington, national cemeteries, or in their own hometown.  Some return home finally to the USS ARIZONA for interment with those they left behind.

Most Holy spirit! Who didst brood
Upon the chaos dark and rude,
And bid its angry tumult cease,
And give, for wild confusion, peace;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea!    from the Navy Hymn
