More Than Just Meetings

Are you missing out on some good old southern hospitality?  Are you meeting new people from all over the state who share your ideas?  Have you been missing out on learning more about the Veterans of Foreign Wars in North Carolina?  There is a solution.

Each Council of Administration meeting and annual convention is not all meetings.  There are training sessions, demonstrations, veterans groups and boosters, and other events to help you learn more about what the Veterans of Foreign Wars does.  We are more than post meetings.  We are supporting and assisting veterans, their families, and our community.  We are sharing our talents. We are building handicapped access ramps or restoring local post homes.  We are welcoming home veterans.  We are sponsoring blood drives, community events, and much more.  We are learning from the successes of other posts and, at times, we learn how not to do something.

We meet several times a year for the Council of Administration and at the end of the year we have our state convention.  All are held in Raleigh, but next year we are heading to Greensboro and our new meeting site at the Embassy Suites.  Our new site is more central to all posts and is a class act in itself.  It is located near the Triad Airport off I-40.

Voice of Democracy Banquet

Our meetings are followed by social events for all.  There is always a hospitality suite or two, Karaoke, and maybe a little dancing.  Sometimes we host a formal dinner or a buffet for evening dining.  Our Winter Council of Administration meeting hosts the Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen Banquet.  This is a formal event and this year our state officers appeared in tuxedos.  If you missed it, you missed a great meal, as pictured here.

Why the photo of food?  It’s for the Mrs.  We want you to have something to show her.  Let her know that the trip is worthwhile and she should join you.  After all, behind every active veteran there is a supporting spouse who is as proud of his or her partner as they are proud of what their post is doing in North Carolina.

It is not too early to get ready for the 2012 State Convention.  Details are pending, but hotel information and reservation forms for the North Raleigh Hilton are now on line.  Reserve your rooms now.
