Flying Squadron Mt. Olive

We have held our first Flying Squadron event in Mt. Olive. Post 9959 served as the host post. District Commanders and Post Officers traveled from posts all along the coast and Eastern Carolina to learn about post programs and how to better serve our members. Topics included sessions on how to be a successful treasurer and quartermaster, as well as similar sessions for Post and District Commanders.

Our most experienced, seasoned officers served as speakers and there was much to share. This event will help attendees understand the importance of programs, deadlines for report submissions, and how to submit reports, as well as local program winners, to districts for consideration. We will also have demonstrations on VFWWEBMAIL and MYVFW.org websites for posts Training materials are now on-line at vfwnc.org under Tools.

Fill your car up with post and district officers. They are welcome. We have plenty of room at the next two events and lunch is provided.

State Commander Ted Briggs urges all posts to attend. This is an important first step in a successful post year. Let your District Commander know by Wednesday, Aug 8th, the number of members coming from your post (both post and auxiliary).

This training session is required for all District Commanders and Quartermasters and District Presidents and Treasurers. Post Commanders, Quartermasters, Auxiliary Presidents and Treasurers are strongly urged to attend.

Our next two events are in Sanford (Aug 11) and Statesville (Aug 18th). Visit the Flying Squadron page for details and a sample schedule. The schedule’s second page includes information on mileage reimbursement and attendance requirements.
