A G Parker Passes
The North Carolina Department lost a long time friend and member today, Saturday, February 4, 2012. Reverend A. G. Parker died today in Raleigh, North Carolina, while attending the Winter Council of Administration meeting. His wife, Frances, and friends were with him.
Reverend A. G. Parker, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Department of North Carolina, Chaplain, has been a fixture at all Veterans of Foreign Wars events as he cared for his fellow comrades in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and veterans everywhere.
Reverend Parker opened the Winter Council of Administration Meeting with a prayer. And, as has been his traditional final note, he proclaimed “I love you all – a little bit.” No one present realized that that was the last time they would hear his signature comment.
In the current edition of the North Carolina VFW Leader, he made a fitting final statement to all veterans. He wrote, “Frances and I covered North Carolina from top to bottom, side to side, and we have enjoyed every moment of District Meetings, Post Meetings, and those places visiting the sick, needy and afflicted. We appreciate so much the opportunity to serve those who have need and hope we made a difference.”
Yes, A. G., you made a difference everywhere you traveled. We are all better for knowing you, and we are sure you are looking down at us saying, “I enjoyed being with you. I love you all – a little bit.”
Funeral arrangements are set. Viewing is on Monday, February 6th. Funeral follows on February 7th. See details
