District Commanders are visiting their posts for their annual inspection. Inspections are important to maintaining strong financial health of posts and ensure that posts maintain complete records.
Post Commanders and Quartermasters can prepare for a scheduled inspection by downloading and completing a Post Inspection Form. This form can be completed on-line.

A reminder to all District Commanders. All post inspections should now be scheduled and a copy of your schedule provided to the State Inspector. Have you thought about contacting posts before your visit to have them do a self check? They can then be prepared and the inspection will go smoother and you will have more time to learn more about what is happening in the post.

Home Depot Grants Announced

The Home Depot, through The Home Depot Foundation, has opened their Community Impact Grants cycle which will be in effect from February 6, 2012 through August 13, 2012. VFW Posts can receive up to $5,000. Although, of course, there are no guarantees (so please be mindful of that), you are encouraged to enter your Post. Apply as soon as possible, if you desire to fix up your building. You will complete the application directly via the Internet.

We all know what an IRS Form 1040 is. We all know the consequences of not filing. If you don’t earn enough, you don’t have to file. However, this is not the case with non-profits. The IRS law changed and there are things we must now do. One is, each non-profit must file each year! This also applies if your income is less than $50,000.
