This is a Veterans Day salute to the Tin Can Navy and all who served aboard destroyers and destroyer escorts. The film is on the USS HANK (DD-702) and has footage of her at-sea refueling off the USS TARAWA (CV-40). These were the ships of the Allen M. Sumner-class destroyer that served our nation well. Totay’s destroyers are faster and more formidable than ever!

Veterans’ Day Dental Care – Nov 11th

Beavers Dentistry, Cary, NC, announced today that they will provide free radiographs, cleanings, and fillings, if time permits. Their appointment schedule is blocked for the day with one hour appointments. Beavers Dentistry is doing this in honor of one of their employees who just lost her husband to cancer. He was a career Marine. Service is available to all current and former military with valid ID.

Tar Heel Women’s Basketball – Veterans Day Nov 11th

Chapel Hill Post 9100 is proud of their hometown teams. They are pleased to announce that any veteran who goes to the ticket window at Carmichael Auditorium for the Carolina Tar Heel Women’s Basketball game on Sunday, November 11, at 5 pm will be sold enough tickets for the veteran and his/her guests at a price of $1 per ticket. The vet simply identifies himself or herself as a veteran and tells the ticket seller how many people are with her/him.

From October 15 through November 11, participating Sport Clips Haircuts locations across the country will join forces to support our annual “Help A Hero” fundraising campaign, benefiting the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ (VFW) Operation Uplink™! Their goal is to raise $500,000 in the sixth year of donating to Operation Uplink, a program that connects deployed and hospitalized U.S. service members with loved ones through free call days. Since the program began in 2007, almost 2 million free calls home have been made possible through Help A Hero!
