VFW says pay and benefits changes will end all-volunteer military

The national commander of America’s largest and oldest major combat veterans’ organization is urging the entire military and veterans’ community to “Join the Fight” to stop the Defense Department from penny-pinching service members to the point of dismantling the all-volunteer force.

“There is no military personnel issue more sacrosanct than pay and benefits,” said Richard L. DeNoyer, who leads the 2 million-member Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. and its Auxiliaries. “Any proposal that negatively impacts any Quality of Life program must be defeated, and that’s why the VFW is asking everyone to join the fight and send a united voice to Congress.”

Home Depot Grants Announced

The Home Depot, through The Home Depot Foundation, has opened their Community Impact Grants cycle which will be in effect from February 6, 2012 through August 13, 2012. VFW Posts can receive up to $5,000. Although, of course, there are no guarantees (so please be mindful of that), you are encouraged to enter your Post. Apply as soon as possible, if you desire to fix up your building. You will complete the application directly via the Internet.

Computer Scam Reported

Veterans of Foreign Wars National Headquarters reports that some Posts are being contacted by a fraudulent company going by the name of “Microsoft Tech Support” claiming that the Posts’ computer has a virus and that “they” can fix the issue.
