Award’s Banquet
The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Department of North Carolina, hosts awards events to honor those who demonstrated excellence in programs or contests.
In February 2012, the department held their Banquet for the voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen Annual Competitions. This is a very formal event to honor the top three winners of each contest. The first place winners present their oral or written essays. This year it was a sold-out crowd. Contest winners were:

Patriot’s Pen, 2011-2012
- 1st Place Cecelia Cardelle, District 12
- 2nd Place Leanna Long, District 6
- 3rd Place Alex T. Kroeger, District 13
